Game
At the end of every weekend math class, raise a simple mental arithmetic problem or a number puzzle for the children to work on holiday. Motivate children who come with the right answers the next day. Children will begin to eagerly await math class.
a. Think some amount
- Your best friend added equal amount what you have thought
- I would like to give you RS 500.
- You did shopping of half of your total amount
- You returned friend’s amount
- How much money is remained with you?
- Your answer is Rs 250.
b. There are 20 people (male/female/children) in a family and they have 20 breads. If each male eats 3 breads, each female eats 2 breads & each child eats half bread, find the number of male/female/children. (14C + 1M + 5F)
c. Snake & Ladder: Like as snake & ladder game, you can put Triangle/Square/Pentagon figure in the place of numbers & they will skip 3/4/5 steps accordingly.
d. Play & Win: If green – 1, Yellow – 10, Red – 100 & Black – 1,000; you can play ring game and students will make numbers.
e. Number Game: Bhana Sathi Kati: Timile Bhane Jati
- Make a circle, if a student will tell 8, they will clap with 1, 2, 3,…8; if 8th will success to skip, his friend will out, otherwise he has to go out.
- Make a circle. Teacher will tell 4, then they have to make 4, 4, group; who will not success to be in group, he will be out.
f. If 7 means sit down, 3 means stop & 10 means run, you can play this game in circle.
g. Multiplication Game: In Rumal Lukai, the students who will catch has to tell one of multiplication table of 2 to 12.
h. Below 10 number means sit down, above 10 number means stand up; you can play this game in circle.
i. One Minute Number Game: You need six bowls and beads with dice where 1 means no count; 2 means double count; 3 means no count; 4 means half count; 5 means no count & 6 means same count. Call one by one student, who will get more beads with in one minute will win the game.
j. Addition/Subtraction Wheel: Write 1, 2, 3, …..19, 20 in the circle. Students will play addition game by 6 + 3 = 9 through jump forward.
Similarly, students will play subtraction game by 7 – 5 = 2 through jump backward.
k. Work Together Story: 9 slaps 8, 8 slaps 7, …….2 slaps 1 but 1 hug with 0, then became 10.
